Terms of use
Effective 5 November 2026.
1. Who provides the Service
The carSLang service — the mobile app, its web version at app.carslang.com and the site carslang.com (the "Service") — is provided by Individual Entrepreneur Volodymyr Petlovy ("we"), registered and acting under the laws of Ukraine, entry in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Organisations No. 2006760010002018965 of 9 June 2025, individual tax number 3035306711. Address: Ukraine, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Khmelnytskyi, Oleksandra Kushniruka Street, build. 12/1, apt. 1. Tel. +38 067 172 31 38. Email: contact@carslang.com.
By downloading or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy policy.
2. What the Service gives
carSLang is an assistant for diagnosing your car. You connect an OBD adapter and describe what is wrong; the assistant reads the car's fault codes and data, explains what they mean and suggests what to check next.
- Free with ELM-compatible OBD adapters (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi): reading and clearing fault codes, live engine data, the VIN.
- With the carSLang adapter, deeper diagnostics: more of the car's control units, bus recordings, adapter updates.
- What is available depends on the car and the adapter: the car's card shows the access level before a session starts. We do not promise that the Service works with any car or any adapter; on an iPhone only BLE and Wi-Fi adapters work.
- Some car data comes from Ukraine's open vehicle registry (CC BY 4.0).
3. The case
The Service's unit of accounting is the case: one problem of yours, one answer from the Service, with every scan, comparison and clarification inside it.
- A case opens with the first message in a new session and closes when you close it or after a period of inactivity. Coming back to a closed case within 7 days of its first close is not a new case.
- The number of free cases a month is the one the app shows. Deleting the account and signing up again with the same email does not reset it.
- A demo session without a real adapter is not a case. A session through a carSLang adapter with an active loan does not count toward the free allowance.
4. No purchases in the app
The app is free and sells nothing: it has no purchases, plans, prices or payment links.
The carSLang adapter is not sold. It is lent for use during a subscription, under a separate written loan contract (Civil Code of Ukraine, chapter 60) made outside the app. That contract sets the terms of the loan, the adapter's return and liability for it.
5. The assistant's answers are help, not a guarantee
The assistant can be wrong. Its answers are reference help, not the finding of a certified professional and not a guarantee of a repair's result. The app marks what was measured on your car and what is general knowledge. Before you repair a car or buy parts, check the conclusions, with a qualified mechanic where needed. A wrong or offensive answer can be reported from the icon under it.
Some information comes from third-party sources. We are not responsible for their accuracy.
6. Lawful access only
We do not bypass car makers' protected gateways and do not help anyone bypass them. Where a gateway restricts writing, the app says so: the manufacturer's access or account is needed. Use the Service only with cars you have the right to diagnose.
7. Actions that change something in the car
Clearing codes and service functions run only after you confirm each action on its own screen, and never while the car is moving. The details are in the Vehicle safety and liability notice, which is part of these Terms.
8. Your account
Opening a case and confirming an action on a car need a confirmed email. You are responsible for the security of your device, your password and access to your account.
You can delete your account in the app (Profile) or at app.carslang.com/profile/delete-account. What remains afterwards: the Privacy policy.
9. "As is", and the limits of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty, express or implied, including of fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation or accuracy. Everything you do with the Service and with your car is at your own risk.
To the extent the laws of Ukraine allow, we are not liable for direct or indirect damage, including damage to a car, the cost of repairs or parts, or loss of data, arising from using the Service or relying on its answers. We are not responsible for third-party OBD adapters, your phone, your internet connection or third-party services; your operator's charges for mobile data and roaming are yours.
10. Third-party services
To run carSLang we may use third-party services, including: hosting and infrastructure (for example, Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Amazon Web Services), error monitoring (Sentry, Bugsnag, Rollbar), push notifications (Expo Push, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Apple Push Notification service), artificial-intelligence models (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google), web search (Brave Search, Microsoft Bing, Google), email delivery (Brevo, SendGrid, Amazon SES) and app stores (Google Play, App Store). Each such service processes data under its own terms of use and privacy policy, which supplement these Terms. We do not control third-party services and, to the extent permitted by law, are not responsible for their processing of data, availability, outages or changes to their terms, or for any other act or omission of theirs. By using carSLang, you also agree to the terms of these services insofar as they concern your use.
11. Changes to the Service
We may change the Service, release updates you need to install, or stop it. The Service, its name, trademarks and databases are ours; copying or modifying them without our permission is not allowed.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine. Disputes are heard by the courts of Ukraine.
13. Changes to the Terms, and contact
We may update these Terms; a new version is published on this page with a new date. Questions: contact@carslang.com.
